Instructional Designer (Geotechnical Engineering Focus)
Maxwell GeoSystems is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineering professional who is interested in working at the intersection of engineering and software. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong academic foundation in geotechnical engineering who are keen to apply their domain expertise in a product, training, and knowledge development environment.
The selected candidate will work closely with our digital platform, MissionOS, to design and develop structured learning content, user documentation, and training materials that help engineers and clients effectively use our construction data management solutions.
This role combines elements of instructional design and technical communication, translating complex geotechnical and construction workflows into clear, user-friendly, and engaging learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop training modules, eLearning courses, and guided walkthroughs based on real-world geotechnical and construction workflows within MissionOS
- Create instructional content including scripts, storyboards, video tutorials, infographics, and assessments
- Collaborate with product experts and project engineers to interpret technical use cases and translate them into structured learning materials
- Support the development of video-based training content and product demonstrations
- Ensure all content aligns with Maxwell GeoSystems’ product standards, branding, and learning frameworks
- Manage and update learning content within the MGS Learn LMS ecosystem (MGSLearn, MGSEmployee, MGSservices portals)
- Continuously improve content based on user feedback and evolving product features
- Contribute to user documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and ease of use
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred) or a closely related discipline
- 2–5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, construction projects, or related domains
- Strong interest in working with software platforms, digital tools, and user training environments
- Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts for varied audiences, including engineers and non-technical users
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn eLearning tools, video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro), and LMS platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional and global teams
